DILI, 06 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidélis Magalhães, considers that the g7+ is a fundamental instrument of the foreign policy of Timor-Leste for actively engaging in multilateralism for the promotion of democracy and state building.
The official was speaking, after making a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the intergovernmental organization of conflict-affected countries (g7+) in Lisbon, Portugal.
The president of the g7+, Francis Mustapha Kai-Kai, in a video message, in the city of Freetown, Sierra Leone, welcomed Minister Fidélis Magalhães.
“On behalf of the organization, we convey our appreciation for the political adhesion, commitment and leadership of the Timorese Government for the approval of financial support to the g7+ and for the renewal of the agreement for the next five years”, he said.
The g7+, based in Lisbon, Portugal, is an international and intergovernmental organization that aims to promote mutual assistance in some of the most vulnerable countries.
The organization was created in 2010 by seven nations. It currently comprises 20 countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Caribbean and the Middle East – Afghanistan, Burundi, Chad, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Yemen, Solomon Islands, Liberia, Papua New Guinea, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Timor-Leste and Togo.
