DILI, 5 august 2022 (TATOLI)- Secretary of State for Environment (SEA) affiliated with four local NGOs composed of Hatutan, JOHAN, HIKA, and Alumni Canossa Student expand the implementation of the green school program at the municipality level.
The program will be first implemented in the four schools in four municipalities including EBF Lebotata Lelo in Lequica, School No 3 Loidahar Lequica, Tebok Atabae in Bobonaro Municipality, and Canossa School in Dili municipality.
“This program aims to transform student’s mindset about garbage management and create healthy school environment, thus together with four local NGO’s we agree to implement green school programs at the municipality level to provide a green environment,’’ Secretary of State for Environment, Diometro Do Amaral Carvalho told reporters at Acait, this monday.
Carvalho explained that the activity inside the green school program will educate students to clean the school environment, planting trees, flowers, and other natures.
The Director of Education and Center, Amenica Machado Fernandes said the schools that join this program were the qualified schools, saying these schools were qualified through strict selection.
“This year, seven schools have submitted their application to SEA to participate in the green school program however, only four schools were selected by SEA,”
SEA provides 5.000 USD for each NGO to implement a green school program in the kinder garden until the university level.
HATUTAN Local NGO Fortunato Carmona said this year they will focus to implement the program in Liquiça municipality.
“We will focus on implementing a green school program in Liquica municipality and ensure this program will change the student’s behaviors and thoughts about protecting the environment,”
So far, this program will be implemented within four months
