APNIC provides training on Internet Routing

DILI, 04 october 2022 (TATOLI)– Asia Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC) works together with the National Communications Authority (ANC) to provide training on Internet Routing aiming to maintain security for the access of the internet.

The Technical Director of the ANC Regulatory Sector, Vidal dos Santos Gomes, said the training is offered by the bidding company on APNIC through the ANC to the Government entities and representatives of internet providers.

“Every year APNIC continues to provide training to us, the ANC and several private companies in TL have also become members of APNIC,” explained Vidal dos Santos Gomes at the opening of the Internet Routing training at the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), this tuesday.

He said there were also participants from private companies such as the Telecommunications Operator Timor Telecom (TT), TELEMOR, Telkomcel, and Internet Service Provider (ISP).

“The training was conducted over three days therefore we hope that our presence can develop the knowledge of the participants, especially how to understand internet security,” said Sheryl (Shane) Hermoso in her speech.

Director General of MTK, Gaspar de Araújo asked the participants to take advantage of the training opportunity to gain more knowledge about Internet Routing adding that it is part of MTC’s program to develop Human Resources (HR) in the technology and information sector.

“Your presence is very important to support HR, particularly in the IT field, in all government agencies, and this training is offered to the participants to respond to the Fiber Optic project,” he said.

APNIC is the regional Internet address registry (RIR) for the Asia-Pacific region. It is one of the world’s five RIRs and is part of the Number Resource Organization (NRO).

APNIC provides a number of resource allocation and registration services that support global internet operations.

It is a membership-based not-for-profit organization whose members include Internet service providers, telecommunications providers, data centers, universities, banks, national Internet registrars, and similar organizations that have their networks.
