“We see that traffic accidents in Timor-Leste often occur due to intoxication, therefore WHO decided to donate Breath Analyzes to the Ministry of Health and PNTL to detect car drivers to prevent traffic accidents and save human lives in Timor-Leste,” Arvin Mathur told TATOLI at Hotel – Timor, Colmera Dili, on Friday.

In the same place, the National Director of the Ministry of Health Odete Viegas appreciated WHO for the support of Breath Analysis.

“The Ministry of Health will hand over this Breath Analysis tool directly to the Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL) to test blood alcohol levels of the drivers in the national territory of Timor-Leste,” said Viegas.

Viegas explained that the Ministry of Health records at least four traffic accident patients and above every day, it is hoped that this tool can help reduce the number of traffic accidents, the number of injuries, and deaths in Timor-Leste.
