CCI-TL asked SERVE to review the business licensing certificates in Timor – Leste

CCI-TL asked SERVE to review the business licensing certificates in Timor – Leste

The President of CCITL, Jorge Serano,

DILI, 31 march 2023 ( TATOLI) – The President of the Chamber of Commerce Industry of Timor – Leste, (CCI- TL) Jorge Serano, asked Employer Verification and Service Registration (SERVE) to review the Business Certification Permit before being distributed to the business people to do the business in Timor – Leste.

The President of CCI-TL, Jorge Serano, is worried about this matter because based on the observations many foreign businessmen use the business license certificates from Timorese people in doing business in Timor – Leste.

“CCI-TL observed that many foreign shops use the business license certification from SERVE to do the business in Timor – Leste, this was found in Chinese shops, where they do business by using the license certificates on behalf of Timorese people,” Jorge Serano told reporters in his office Acait, Dili.

Serano together with his structural coordination with SERVE overcome this problem and ask the Timorese people not to facilitate foreign business because it will kill Timorese businesses themselves, besides it will also hamper Timor-Leste’s economic growth because the income earned every day will be sent to their home countries and the circulation of money will not be stable in Timor – Leste.

Serano appealed to SERVE to issue the business certificate in accordance with the criteria which is applied by SERVE and also appealed to SERVE officers to conduct the recheck on the business activities of foreigners because many foreign shops from China use a Business Permit from Timorese people.

“Therefore I request to SERVE to look into this matter, and if the regulation of SERVE gives the way, SERVE needs to review this regulation to give full authority to Timorese businessmen to do business in diversifying the economic growth in Timor – Leste.”
