FRETILIN and KHUNTO congratulate CNRT for its big victory in parliamentary elections

DILI, 23 may 2023 (TATOLI) – MPs of the FRETILIN and KHUNTO at the National Parliament congratulate the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction (CNRT) for its big victory in Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

“On behalf of FRETILIN party, I would like to congratulate CNRT on their big victory in the parliamentary elections,” the head of the FRETILIN’s bench, David Dias Ximenes ‘Mandati’, said at the House of Parliament, today.

At the same time, the head of KHUNTO’s bench, Olinda Guterres also congratulated CNRT, calling on all MPs to respect each other in Parliament.

“As I have always said, we do not need to look at each other as enemies, but we need to love and respect each other,” Guterres said.

She said KHUNTO will support any party that forms the government to accelerate national development.

“The result of the election is the decision of the Timorese people. Therefore, our wish for the new government is that the Greater Sunrise project must be developed in onshore Timor-Leste under the leadership of Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão as Prime Minister. Because this project is crucial to improve the living conditions of the Timorese people”, said Guterres.

She hoped that Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão will accept the preferences of the people to become the next Prime Minister of Timor-Leste in order to accelerate the development of the Greater Sunrise project.

According to the temporary result of the parliamentary election Gusmão’s party, the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction (CNRT) secures a big victory over the ruling parties – the Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor (FRETILIN), People’s Liberation Party (PLP), and Kmanek Haburas Unidade Nasional Timor Oan (KHUNTO).
