DILI, 19 june 2023 (TATOLI)– Indonesia committed to supporting Timor – Leste totally to become a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN).

Permanent Ambassador Representative of the Republic of Indonesia for ASEAN Mr. M. I. Derry Aman said during the welcoming of 10 vocal points of Timor – Leste s delegation from each ministerial in the Center of Jakarta on wednesday (15/06).

“Indonesia has a strong commitment to continue supporting Timor – Leste to become the permanent member of ASEAN, even though Timor – Leste’s status currently an observer member and have the legal opportunity to attend all agenda meeting of ASEAN,” said Derry Aman.

He also added that after the ASEAN summit the ASEAN leaders in the Labuan – Bajo had allowed Timor – Leste to complete the roadmap to become a permanent member of ASEAN.

Therefore based on the criteria of the roadmap, Timor – Leste must fulfill the criteria in the development of infrastructure, health, education, and the other related development in Timor – Leste.

Delegation Team also conduct a meeting with the Director of Human Resources Development at the ASEAN Level with all staff at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta to attend the important issue, especially for the pillar of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) to Timor – Leste’s delegation.

“The delegation from Timor-Leste was allowed to introduce themselves based on their working area and this opportunity the delegation of Timor – Leste thanked the Department of Human Resources of the ASEAN Secretariat which had shared their experiences of the knowledge of Human Resources by internship to be implemented in Timor – Leste before to become the permanent member of ASEAN in the future,” wrote in the statement. 

The Representative from Timor – Leste who attend the internship program of ASCC are; Lídia A Imaculada da Conceição Director of Commission of Public Servant, Emília Costa Magalhãs vocal point from the Secretariat of State for Culture and Art, Getrudis da Costa Araujo vocal point from the Secretariat State for Environment, Alexandrina Verdial de S Gama, Sub. Inspector of Secretariat of State for Vocational Employment and Training (SEFOPE), Adão Jorge Baptista Pinto from the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusiveness (MSSI), Abel de Jesus Andrade vocal point of the Secretariat of State for Youth and Sport (SSYS), dr. Sergio da Costa Belo Official Program from the Ministry of Health, Henrique da Silva vocal point for Asean from the Secretariat of State for Equality and Inclusiveness, Elisio Verdial dos Santos Nasionál Director of Local Administration of the Ministry of State for Administration ( MSA)and Mateus da Costa from the Authority of Civil Protection (APC).
