DILI, 21 june 2023 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta canceled his State visit to France, in order to attend the memorial service of the wife of the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, and the funeral ceremony of the former Deputy Health Minister, Luís Lobato.
The Head of State was supposed to leave for France to participate in the Summit for a New Global Financing Compact where he was due to meet many heads of state from different countries.
The Head of State will attend the funeral ceremony of Prime Minister Ruak’s wife, Isabel Ferreira, at 4 pm, at the Becusse Cemetery, in Dili, today.
“I was set to travel to France on tuesday (20/06) to attend the Summit for a New Global Financing Compact, but I decided to cancel the visit, obviously to attend the memorial service of Prime Minister Ruak’s wife, Isabel Ferreira,” President Horta said at the Suai Room, at Timor Plaza, in Dili, today.
The Head of State will also attend the funeral ceremony of the Deputy Health Minister, Luís Lobato, which will take place in the village of Leorema, Administrative Post of Bazartete, Liquiça Municipality.
However, President Horta is due to leave for Germany on friday (23/06) to have an official meeting with German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, on saturday (24/06).
