DILI, 07 July 2023 (TATOLI)– The Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SoSVTE) held a meeting with 38 Timorese workers to be placed in a fishing company in South Korea.
Director General of SoSVTE, Paul Alves said these workers will be working in the Fishery Company, therefore this meeting was held with them to provide clear and detailed information regarding the contracts, criteria, and requirements before leaving for South Korea.
“You all have a great opportunity to work in South Korea. So you have to meet the criteria and follow all the rules and work hard,” he said
Likewise, The Director of Exterior Employers, Filomeno Soares said that Government’s SEFOPE is working hard to send more Timorese workers to work in South Korea and Australia.
“We maintain good cooperation with Australia and South Korea to send more Timorese workers to work in the Horticulture and Fisheries department, therefore use this opportunity to work hard and comply with all applicable regulations,” he said.
According to Soares, from 2021 to 2022 SoSVTE sent more than 1,000 people to South Korea, they worked in the fishing industry, while more than 4,000 Timorese workers worked in the horticulture sector in Australia.
