JAKARTA 07 september 2023 (TATOLI) – The 43rd ASEAN Summit held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, from 5 to 7 September 2023 has produced 90 outcome documents, including the ASEAN Concord IV and ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on ASEAN as Epicentrum of Growth.
Jokowi expressed high appreciation to all leaders and said that the Summit produced 90 documents and several concrete agreements with partner countries.
“There are many agreements that have been made, including the EAS declaration on the Epicentrum of Growth, then the development of the electric vehicle (EV) battery ecosystem, the acceleration of the regional cross-border payment system, and local currency transactions,” Widodo’s statement quoted in ANTARA News.
ANTARA reported that President Widodo also highlighted the implementation of the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF), which resulted in 93 projects worth US$38.2 billion: “The (AIPF) resulted in 93 concrete projects worth US$38.2 billion. This is once again concrete cooperation that is beneficial for the people.”
The Indonesian president requested all leaders to continue strengthening collaboration and cooperation to maintain regional peace: “Let us continue to strengthen our collaboration and cooperation for a peaceful and prosperous ASEAN, and make the world a better place for all.”
“We must continue to work together to navigate challenges to be opportunities, navigate rivalries to be collaborations, navigate exclusivity into inclusivity, and navigate differences into unity. We must be the captain of our own ship,” Widodo said.
The 43rd has been successfully held and officially closed by President Joko Widodo on Thursday, 7 September 2023. In the closing ceremony, President Jokowi expressed his high appreciation to all leaders.
After addressing the closing ceremony of the summit, President Widodo handed over the ASEAN chairmanship for 2024 to Laos.
Following the handover of the ASEAN chairmanship baton to Laos, promising to build an increasingly connected and resilient ASEAN.
The 43rd ASEAN Summit under Indonesia’s chairmanship this year is themed “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth.”
