DILI, 27 december 2023 (TATOLI) – AD SLB Laulara football club representing Timor-Leste to compete in the Timor CUP football competition in Australia which will begin on December 27, in Australia.
The 19 players of the AD SLB Laulara football club, on Tuesday (26 december) left for Melbourne-Australia, accompanied by seven officials.
AD SLB Laulara Club Team Leader, Nivia Reis Silva Caldeiras, said many Australian football clubs would attend the game.
The Timor CUP is organized by Timorese citizens living in Australia. As well as winning trophies, the competition also aims to select the best young and talented footballers.
Before departing for Australia, the players, assistants, and team leaders together with the Ambassador for youth, Kay Olok Gusmão, held a meeting with the president of the AD SLB Laulara football club, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão.
During the meeting, Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, appealed to the AD SLB team to always be disciplined and obey all the rules, so that they could make Timor-Leste proud in Australia.
“All of you are the ambassadors of Timor-Leste in the world of sports. In a match, winning or losing is normal but you must continue to be disciplined to learn experiences from other players to be applied in Timor-Leste, developing the talents of the players in order to contribute to the development of sports in the country,” he said.
SLB Laulara’s AD coach, King, asked the players to play with discipline to bring the team success in the competition: “You have to play well and stay strong during the game. By doing so, you will be successful.”
