DILI, 03 january 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, wishes a happy new year 2024 to all Timorese people including Timorese citizens who currently studying and working abroad.
President Horta hopes that the new year 2024 will bring peace and unity between fellow citizens in Timor-Leste and the Timorese Citizens who are now in abroad.
Based on a press release accessed by Tatoli, the Head of State hopes that this new year can strengthen peace and unity in all aspect .
“With the spirit of the new year, our commitment is to expand greater peace in the country, and expand solidarity, unity for the country and the people, to live better. Through peace, the Government can implement its programmes to improve the national economy and the lives of the people,” the Head of State said in his remarks at the 2024 New Year’s Eve celebration held at the State Palace, Dili on 31 December 2023.
The Head of State also said Timor-Leste is very fortunate because with commitment, the people of Timor-Leste live in the world with dignity and respect.
“We live in peace with great potential so that in 2024 to 2025 our economy can greatly improve. Because, with the formation of a new government led by Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, the economy of this country will be even better,” he said.
President Horta also considered all Timor-Leste citizens who are in the country and abroad to have made a great contribution to the family and the State of Timor-Leste.
