DILI, 20 may 2024 (TATOLI) – The US Government, through the Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken, congratulated Timor-Leste on the commemoration of the 22nd Anniversary of Timor-Leste’s Independence Restoration Day.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Timor-Leste on the occasion of your Restoration of Independence Day,” Blinken said in a statement.
He said that the United States and Timor-Leste continue to share a strong partnership based on a commitment to democratic values.
“Our countries are working together to expand economic prosperity and opportunity for our people, address global challenges, and promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region. We look forward to continued close cooperation in the years ahead, including supporting Timor-Leste’s efforts to gain full membership in ASEAN,” said Blinken. “My best wishes to all Timorese on this joyous day.”
