DILI, 28 may 2024 (TATOLI) – Ambassador Maurício Medeiros de Assis, on monday, met with President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta to mark the end of his three-and-a-half years of service in Timor-Leste.

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed various cooperation projects developed between the two countries, highlighting the strong bilateral relationship that has strengthened over this period.

“We reviewed the cooperation projects. I took the opportunity to thank the Timorese government and the nation represented by the president for a donation made to the victims of the floods that occurred in Brazil two weeks ago. It was a generous donation that reflects the affection the Timorese have for Brazilians,” said the Ambassador, underscoring the importance of the partnership between Brazil and Timor-Leste.

The meeting also served to explore future collaborations, especially in the field of education and national development.

“We have a project with the Ministry of Education for the Training of Teachers for Vocational Technical Schools. Twelve Brazilian teachers are set to come to Timor-Leste this July,” he said.

Ambassador Assis concluded his statement on a personal note: “I was very happy here in Díli, my family and I, and we will miss it greatly.”
