Deniel raises Timor-Leste’s name through boxing

Deniel raises Timor-Leste’s name through boxing

DILI, 19 May 2025 (TATOLI)—Last night, a total lunar eclipse darkened the skies over Bali, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste, captivating observers in both locations.

The eclipse occurred on Sunday, May 18, 2025, with the large and small hands of the clock marking 11:00 PM Timor-Leste time and 9:00 PM local Bali time.

Timor-Leste’s esteemed fighter, Deniel, remained true to his principles, holding firmly to his dignity and expressing his strong sense of nationalism. His determination paid off, as he secured victory despite competing in a foreign land.

Deniel showcased his skill as a boxer without resorting to aggression beyond the sport. From the very first round, he made it clear that he was a force to be reckoned with, keeping his opponent Krispinus on the defensive.

In the second round, Deniel never showed weakness, making it even more difficult for Krispinus to exploit any openings. Although Krispinus launched attacks, Deniel’s defensive maneuvers remained solid—his gloves, wrapped in red boxing gear, became impenetrable barriers to his opponent’s strikes.

The match continued, and Deniel consistently delivered powerful left hooks, forcing Krispinus into retreat more than he could land decisive hits. By the fourth round, Deniel had accumulated significantly more points than Krispinus, securing an undeniable victory and claiming the championship title.

When Deniel was crowned champion, it was like a thunderous strike that shook Krispinus, his coach, and his supporters. They tried to make noise in the ring, but the HSS security team managed to keep the situation calm. Deniel proudly raised the Timor-Leste flag high in the air, celebrating his victory.

Deniel’s triumph was not handed to him on a silver platter, nor was it given as an offering. It was earned through his own fight, his own effort, and his own sweat as he battled in the ring. His victory is a reminder of the historic moment 23 years ago when Timorese fighters shouted their defiance at Tasi-Tolu in Dili, proclaiming to the world that Timor-Leste had restored its sovereignty.

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, Timor-Leste’s warrior, represented by Deniel, raised his fists in Bali, Indonesia, sending a message to Indonesia and the world that Timor-Leste is capable—that it is not an isolated nation in the eyes of the world.

Deniel fought not only in the ring but also with a deep sense of nationalism and patriotism. His spirit echoed beyond the boxing arena, inspiring others to take pride in Timor-Leste. Congratulations to Timor-Leste’s champion, Deniel de Asis Belo!
