The President’s participation highlights Timor-Leste’s commitment to global climate action, sustainable development, and regional cooperation. “Climate change is not a distant threat—it is a present crisis for Timor-Leste and our Pacific neighbors. At this Summit, I will emphasize that global net-zero ambitions must include justice, finance, and tangible support for those who contribute least to emissions yet suffer the most. Australia’s leadership is vital, and together, we must ensure no community is left behind in the fight for a sustainable future,” Stated President Horta
On the first day in Melbourne, the President will bestow the Order of Timor-Leste to distinguished individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to Timor-Leste development and humanitarian efforts.
The visit will also feature a special cultural performance by the Boite Schools Chorus, commemorating 50 years of Timorese migration to Australia
