Over 100 Journalists join China’s CIPCC media exchange and training program

DILI, 25 August 2025 (TATOLI) – More than 100 journalists from around the world have joined the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) media exchange and training program.

The program was launched on Friday, August 22, at the Diplomatic Residence Compound (DRC) in Chaoyang District, Beijing, where the schedule and key activities for the four-month initiative were introduced to participants.

CIPCC Director Yu Lei said the program will include lectures on China’s socioeconomic development, politics, diplomacy, culture, science, and technology, alongside media exchanges, press training, and field visits in and outside Beijing.

He encouraged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that can contribute to media growth and national development in their home countries. Lei also urged journalists to share their experiences in China with global audiences through their reporting.

CIPCC Assistant Amy Yao highlighted the program’s long history of building connections between foreign journalists and Chinese society. “Since 2014, more than 700 journalists from over 100 countries have joined CIPCC, producing thousands of reports to help the world understand contemporary China,” she said.

Yao encouraged participants to actively engage in the program and continue this tradition of cross-cultural storytelling.

Indonesian journalist Doan Widhiandono, from Hariandisway, expressed gratitude for being selected: “I am very happy to be one of the participants of CIPCC 2025,” he said.

Widhiandono hopes the program will strengthen people-to-people ties among journalists worldwide and foster stronger relations between China, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and other nations.

Journalist Abu Bakarr Bah from Sierra Leone also welcomed the opportunity, saying the training offers a space for cultural exchange among reporters from Africa, Eurasia, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and China.

“This program provides a unique chance to meet different nationalities from different countries and continents. It is a wonderful program where I can learn about cultural exchange between China, Africa, Asia, and other regions,” he said.

So far, three Timorese journalists have joined the program, including Filomeno Martins from Tatoli News Agency.

Since its launch in 2024, CIPCC has established six regional press centers: the China-Africa Press Center, the China-Asia Pacific Press Center, the China-Latin America and Caribbean Press Center, the China-Eurasia Press Center, the China-Arab States Press Center, and the China-Central and Eastern European Countries Press Center.

Launched by the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), CIPCC serves as a platform for cooperation between Chinese media and journalists from emerging and developing countries. It also helps foreign journalists gain a deeper understanding of China.
