DILI, 04 November 2025 (TATOLI) – The Council of Ministers has approved funding for the Development of the Greater Sunrise gas field and to ensure that the gas pipeline comes to Timor-Leste, based on a project presented by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Francisco da Costa Monteiro.

With this decision, the Council of Ministers authorised total expenditure of US$16.055.897 to be executed between 2025 and 2027.

The funding will support the implementation of Program A13 under the General State Budget, which focuses on developing the Greater Sunrise gas field and completing the studies and initiatives required to ensure the construction of a gas pipeline to Timor-Leste.

The approved amount includes financing for ultra-high-resolution geophysical and seismic surveys (UHRS) related to the Greater Sunrise gas export pipeline and the Bayu Undan pipeline. These surveys are essential for the project’s technical and planning phases.

The decision marks a significant step in advancing Timor-Leste’s long-term energy ambitions and its goal to secure domestic benefits from the Greater Sunrise resources through direct pipeline connection and onshore development.
