DILI, 04 November 2025 (TATOLI) – The Government has officially ratified the Defense Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Malaysia and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
According to the document accessed by Tatoli, the primary objective of the agreement is to strengthen bilateral relations in the military sector. This includes regular political-strategic dialogue, sharing of information and experiences, personnel exchanges, technical and military training, joint exercises, and cooperation in defense-related science, technology, and industry.
The document also recognizes Malaysia as a trusted defense partner of Timor-Leste since the restoration of independence. It reaffirms both governments’ commitment to promoting peace, security, and regional stability within the ASEAN framework, where Timor-Leste now holds full membership rights.
