DILI, 04 November 2025 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste has granted authority to the Minister of Education, Dulce de Jesus Soares, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Singapore to strengthen cooperation in the education sector, with a particular focus on teacher training.
Minister Dulce de Jesus explained that discussions began in March 2025, aiming to formalize the agreement with Singapore’s National Institute of Education.
“This institute ranks among the top 10 globally. We intend to collaborate with Singapore’s National Institute and our own National Institute for Teacher and Professional Education [INFORDEPE] to enhance training for teachers, trainers, Ministry staff, and school leaders,” she stated today at the Government Palace.
She emphasized that the agreement will serve as a framework for future collaboration. INFORDEPE is expected to engage directly with Singaporean counterparts, following a preliminary study and school visits already conducted.
