DILI, 05 November 2025 (TATOLI) – President and Nobel Peace Laureate, Jose Ramos-Horta has expressed his profound sympathy and solidarity following the recent floods and landslides that struck central Vietnam, further aggravated by the approach of Typhoon Kalmaegi.
President Ramos-Horta has sent a formal message of profound sympathy and solidarity to His Excellency Lương Cường, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
President Ramos-Horta conveyed the deepest condolences of Timorese: “I extend to Your Excellency, to the families of the victims, and to the entire people of Vietnam the deepest condolences of Timor-Leste, together with our fraternal expression of solidarity in this moment of great sorrow and trial.”
“I follow with deep admiration the tireless efforts of the Vietnamese authorities, rescue teams, and local communities to save lives, provide humanitarian assistance, and rebuild the affected infrastructure. The spirit of resilience and unity that characterizes the Vietnamese people remains, once again, a source of inspiration for us all,” he said.
President Ramos-Horta reaffirmed the fraternal bonds between the two nations. Timor-Leste stands in solidarity with Vietnam and expressed hope for the success of the ongoing relief and recovery efforts.
