DILI, 14 November 2025 (TATOLI) — The Ai-Han Timor Night Market will open for three festive nights of food, music, and culture, bringing together local entrepreneurs, artists, and communities to celebrate the richness of Timorese flavors and creativity.
The event, held at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace from 14–16 November 2025, is a collaborative initiative between the Office of the President of the Republic, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI), the Secretary of State for Equality (SEI), and Heineken Timor-Leste. The Night Market aims to promote local food products, empower small businesses, and create new market opportunities for Timorese entrepreneurs.
Promoting Local Food and Empowering Small Businesses
The name Ai-Han Timor—meaning “Timorese Food”—reflects the core mission of the initiative: to support local food producers and vendors by connecting them directly with consumers, investors, and broader markets.
Last year, 23 small entrepreneurs were recruited and trained under the Ai-Han Timor program to enhance their skills in food production, business management, and marketing. This year, the focus is on promoting these beneficiaries by providing real market exposure through the Night Market.
Each participating vendor showcases the innovation and resilience of Timorese small businesses, offering authentic dishes, creative food products, and modern interpretations of traditional recipes that reflect Timor-Leste’s unique culinary identity.
Collaboration and Partnerships
The Ai-Han Timor initiative demonstrates the power of collaboration between public and private institutions in promoting inclusive economic growth. By linking government agencies, development organizations, and private partners, the Night Market strengthens local value chains, supports entrepreneurship, and showcases Timor-Leste as a hub for cultural and culinary tourism.
A Vibrant Market Experience
Visitors can enjoy a dynamic mix of food stalls, live music performances, DJ sets, musical theater, and many fun games and raffles with prizes, creating a lively atmosphere that engages audiences of all ages. The Night Market is designed as a space for community connection, cultural celebration, and support for small businesses, particularly those owned by local women.
Building a Sustainable Future for Local Entrepreneurs
The Ai-Han Timor Night Market is more than a cultural celebration—it is a platform for sustainable growth, transforming local talent and passion into long-term economic opportunities. By providing visibility, networking, and market access, the initiative helps Timorese small businesses—especially those owned by local women—thrive and contributes to vibrant urban life in Dili.
