DILI, 08 january 2026 (TATOLI) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, on thursday received Katrina Cooper, Australia’s newly appointed Greater Sunrise Sherpa, for a courtesy meeting at the Ministry in Dili.
The meeting marked Cooper’s introduction as the Australian Government’s focal point for political-level engagement on the Greater Sunrise project.
The meeting allowed both sides to exchange views and reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing the project through constructive dialogue, mutual respect, and partnership.
The two parties emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to translate long-standing bilateral understandings into concrete progress.
They also stressed that the development of Greater Sunrise should contribute to sustainable development and shared prosperity for the peoples of Timor-Leste and Australia.
