DILI, 19 January 2024 (TATOLI) – Applications are now open for the New Zealand English Language Training for Officials (NZELTO) Scholarships.
These three-month English language scholarships will be delivered in New Zealand from August to November 2026. Intake 59 will focus on the theme of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security.
“Applications are open from 19 January to 27 February 2026. Only ten positions are available for this prestigious opportunity,” the statement announced.
Eligibility
Applications are open exclusively to government employees working at the following institutions:
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation
- Office of the Minister Coordinator of Economic Affairs
- Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Forestry
- Secretary of State for Cooperatives
- Instituto do Geociência de Timor-Leste
- TradeInvest
Benefits
These scholarships will strengthen participants’ English language skills, enabling them to advance their careers while networking with other ASEAN officials engaged in sustainable agriculture and food security. Scholars will also experience life in New Zealand and later attend the Southeast Asia ELTO Conference in early 2025.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be directly involved in policymaking, planning, approval, implementation, or reporting related to sustainable agriculture and food security.
- Work on climate change impact and mitigation in agriculture, or on developing technology for climate-smart agricultural production.
- Have relevant connections to supply chains, storage, transportation, or international trade.
Applications must be discussed with and recommended by the applicant’s workplace supervisor. Application forms and program outlines are distributed through each line ministry.
