DILI, 24 March 2026 (TATOLI) — Timor-Leste’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, hosted a farewell cocktail reception in honor of the outgoing Ambassador of Indonesia, Okto Dorinus Manik, and Ambassador of India, Madan Kumar Ghildiyal, marking the conclusion of their diplomatic missions in the country.
The event brought together members of the National Parliament, government officials, the diplomatic corps and international partners to recognize the ambassadors’ service and contributions to strengthening bilateral relations.
Ambassador of Indonesia to Timor-Leste, Okto Dorinus Manik, and Ambassador of India to Timor-Leste, Madan Kumar Ghildiyal, were commended for their roles in deepening cooperation between their respective countries and Timor-Leste.
In his remarks, Minister Bendito conveyed profound appreciation for both Ambassadors’ leadership and dedication in strengthening bilateral relations. Minister Bendito highlighted Ambassador Okto’s role in reinforcing the close and historic ties between Timor-Leste and Indonesia, including cooperation in economic development, border management, and support for Timor-Leste’s ASEAN integration.
Minister Bendito also commended Ambassador Ghildiyal for advancing cooperation with India in key sectors such as health, ICT, and capacity building, as well as supporting the establishment of India’s resident mission in Dili.
Minister Bendito emphasized that diplomacy is about building bridges and fostering lasting partnerships, noting that both Ambassadors have left a meaningful legacy of friendship, trust, and cooperation.
Minister Bendito reaffirmed Timor-Leste’s commitment to further strengthening its bilateral relations and partnerships with Indonesia and India, expressing confidence that the strong foundations built during their tenure will continue to benefit all countries and peoples.
