Heineken Timor-Leste marks Global Safety Week with zero-accident campaign

DILI, 30 April 2026 (TATOLI) — Heineken Timor-Leste on Thursday marked its 2026 Global Safety Week at its production site in Hera, Dili, with a series of training sessions and awareness campaigns aimed at strengthening workplace safety and promoting a zero-accident culture.

Held from April 14 to April 30, this year’s campaign was themed “Global Safety Week Brings Us Together Around Our Commitment to Safety.”

The event was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and involved representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL), and other government institutions.

Heineken Timor-Leste Safety Manager Egas Martinho de Jesus said the initiative sought to strengthen employees’ awareness of workplace safety and shared responsibility.

“The campaign promotes the mindset that safety is my obligation, health is my right, and responsibility is ours,” he told TATOLI at the company’s office in Hera.

As part of the program, Heineken organized five days of training covering responsible drinking, traffic safety, risk management, and emergency preparedness.

The company partnered with the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) to conduct road safety awareness sessions, particularly targeting young people and reinforcing legal restrictions on drunk driving.

Training sessions also covered hazard risk management for employees, as well as leadership preparedness in responding to emergencies such as fires and earthquakes.

Heineken Timor-Leste Country Manager Khor Woh Hock said the company’s annual Global Safety Week is designed to reinforce a “Safety First” culture across its operations worldwide, including in Timor-Leste.

He said the campaign encourages employees to take collective responsibility for safety, comply with the company’s 12 Life Saving Commitments, and help achieve the goal of zero workplace accidents.

“We maintain a year-round focus on safety, but Global Safety Week gives us an opportunity to remind ourselves of our 12 Life Saving Commitments and what we can do to ensure everyone returns home safe and sound at the end of each day,” he said.

Khor added that Heineken Timor-Leste remains committed to promoting safe decision-making both in the workplace and in the wider community.

Heineken Timor-Leste operates a $40 million multi-beverage production facility in Hera, Dili, spanning 12 hectares and officially inaugurated in January 2018.
