DILI, 24 June 2026 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos-Horta, received this Wednesday, at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace, the acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy in Timor-Leste, Nugroho Aribhimo.
The meeting aimed to mark the official farewell of the diplomat, who will conclude his two-year mission in Dili on July 1st.
During the meeting, Nugroho Aribhimo expressed his profound gratitude for the support, coordination, and excellent cooperation provided by the Timorese Government and people throughout his mandate.
The audience was also marked by a moment of solidarity, in which the Indonesian representative conveyed, on behalf of his country, the deepest condolences for the recent passing of the former President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo.
The diplomat made a point of honoring the memory of the former Head of State, paying tribute to him and highlighting him as a historic combatant who remained consistent and dedicated to his nation until the end of his life.
Regarding the transition process at the Indonesian Embassy, Nugroho informed President Ramos-Horta that the interim leadership of the diplomatic mission will be assumed by Counsellor Banga Malewa, shortly after his departure.
This provisional representation will ensure the continuity of work and the maintenance of the strong bilateral relations that unite the two countries, while the governments await the official appointment and arrival of the new Indonesian Ambassador to Timor-Leste.
