Govt approves agreement between Timor-Leste and Vanuatu on Technical Cooperation Program for Development

DILI, 22 July 2026 (TATOLI) — The Council of Ministers has approved agreement between Timor-Leste and Vanuatu on the technical cooperation program for development.

The agreement was approved following a proposal presented by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Jesuína Maria Ferreira Gomes.

“The main objectives of the Agreement are to promote development cooperation across strategic areas, to strengthen peace, stability, and security by advancing shared values, and to establish mutually beneficial mechanisms for technical collaboration between the two States,” said in a statement.

Through this Agreement, Timor-Leste and Vanuatu reaffirm their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, thereby strengthening the partnership between two Pacific island states that share common challenges and a shared goal of promoting sustainable development, prosperity, and regional stability.
