Minister Bendito holds bilateral meeting with Liechtenstein’s Deputy Prime Minister

DÍLI, 24 September 2026 (TATOLI) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, held a bilateral meeting with Sabine Monauni, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Environment and Culture of the Principality of Liechtenstein, on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Timor-Leste and Liechtenstein to effective multilateralism and a rules-based international order.

Both sides exchanged views on the vital role of international law and strong multilateral institutions in safeguarding the interests of small states, including the importance of protecting the integrity and independence of the International Criminal Court and strengthening cooperation within the United Nations.

Liechtenstein, Europe’s fourth-smallest country, is a tiny, doubly landlocked principality nestled between Switzerland and Austria, covering just over 160 square kilometres (62 square miles) and home to about 41,389 people, with the Alps rising above the Rhine Valley.
