Minister Bendito reaffirms Timor-Leste’s principled support for Palestinian people’s right to self-determination

DÍLI, 25 September 2026 – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, participated in the High-Level Ministerial Meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

In his intervention, Minister Bendito reaffirmed Timor-Leste’s principled support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and for a viable, sovereign Palestinian State, living side by side with Israel in peace, security and dignity.

Minister Bendito underscored the importance of protecting civilians, ensuring humanitarian access, strengthening Palestinian institutions and upholding international law.

Minister Bendito stressed that lasting peace requires safeguarding the legitimate rights, security and dignity of both Palestinians and Israelis, while translating international commitments into practical, coordinated and measurable action.
