President Ramos-Horta appreciates the existence of Kaebauk Bank
DÍLI, 30 September 2026 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos-Horta, appreciates the existence of Kaebauk Bank, S.A., which recently transitioned from a microfinance institution to a commercial bank on September 9, 2026.
The Head of State will continue to provide his support to financial institutions so they can continue to thrive and help the domestic economy.
This message of appreciation was conveyed by the CEO of Kaebauk Bank, S.A., Ângelo Soares, after concluding an audience with the President of the Republic, Ramos-Horta, this Wednesday.
During the audience, the Head of State was invited to participate in the official launch of Kaebauk Bank, S.A., in the last week of next month.
The Kaebauk CEO affirmed that the bank will focus primarily on microcredit for small enterprises and small traders. Therefore, after the official launch, it will open its doors for everyone to access its services.
Originally, Kaebauk was established in 2001 (originating from a Save the Children program before transforming into the NGO Tuba Rai Metin – TRM) and is known as the largest microfinance institution in Timor-Leste, providing small loans to local communities.
