DILI, 05 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Business Registration and Verification Service (SERVE) fined two Indonesian companies for breaching regulations.
SERVE’s Executive Director, Florêncio Sanches, informed that the two Indonesian companies were fined with US$5.000, including a two-year license suspension, which banned the companies from competing for government infrastructure tenders.
“These two Indonesian companies had been carried out economic activities in Timor-Leste. They were fined for moving their offices without informing SERVE. I shouldn’t let you know about the name of these two companies,” Sanches told TATOLI, at his office, in Dili, on Wednesday.
Sanches said the two companies used to win US$ 70 million of government infrastructure and construction tender.
“One of the companies moved its office and activities to another place, and when the SERVE’s team visited their previous office, they had moved out,” said Sanches.
He said SERVE got the contact number of the companies from Indonesian Embassy in Dili to communicate with them regarding the violation of the rules that they have committed: “It shouldn’t be like that, and we won’t allow any company to go away with it. We do all of this by the law.”
He called on other companies, both local and international to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
Sanches added within the month of July, SERVE had shut down some big companies due to financial issues.
