DILI, 23 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, reports another death, 187 infections, 67 recoveries, and the active cases were 3.383.
Of the 187 cases, 77 were detected in Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 63 in Covalima, eight each in Ainaro and Viqueque, six each in Baucau and Lautem, five each in Aileu and Manufahi, four in Ermera, three in Bobonaro, and two in Manatuto.
The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said 66.8 percent of today’s cases were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, 119 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including 62 cases under 20 and six elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 106 men and 81 women.
Araujo informed that 60 Covid-19 cases had been admitted to Vera Cruz Isolation Center for intensive treatment, with 20 people in critical condition, three of whom required ventilation.
In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 238 PCR tests, including one sentinel surveillance test, 106 through contact tracing, 23 via random screening, 99 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, four for the international travel authorization, and five in quarantines.
Today, SIJK registered another death in Timor-Leste.
The deceased was a man in his late 60s, who was diagnosed with Covid-19 on august 16 and admitted to Gleno Hospital on August 17. He passed away today at around 11.20. am local time due to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 18.7 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 47.3 Manufahi 23.2, Covalima 20.6, RAEOA 9.1, Ainaro 8.3, Baucau 8.2, and Manatuto 8.1.
The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus as the SIJK’s records showed cases are again mounted in Dili, Ermera, and several municipalities.
There has been a total of 14.403 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 10.971 recoveries, active cases were 3.383 and 49 deaths, according to SIJK’s data.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 48.3 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 21.7 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
