Covid-19 Update: TL records one more death, 4 new cases

DILI, 24 October 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded one more death, four new COVID-19 cases, nine recoveries, and the active cases dropped to 63, Rui Maria de Araujo Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK) says.

According to today’s figure, three new cases were detected in capital Dili, and one in Viqueque.

Of the four new cases, 25 percent had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. These new cases are made up of one man and three women.

Araujo said three of the newly detected cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including one elderly person over 60, adding 57.1 percent of the new cases were symptomatic.

Araujo has given details on the patient who had lost her life to the Covid-19.

A woman in her 40s is from Dili. She was diagnosed with Covid-19 on october 23 and was under intensive treatment at the Lahane Isolation Center. She died today at 12.30 am local time.

There are five people with COVID-19 in hospital and three of those are in moderate condition.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 122 PCR tests, including four via sentinel surveillance, six through contact tracing, 36 via random screening, and 15 were following requests for the international travel authorization, and 61 in quarantines.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.770 cases, 18.586 recoveries, 121 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 70.8 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 46 percent have been fully vaccinated.
