DILI, 25 november 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) team is starting to verify the documents of the volunteer teachers throughout the country to ensure they are registered in the system.
“Our team, consisting of six to 15 people, has begun collecting and verifying the data and documents of all-volunteer teachers throughout the country. The verification had been scheduled to be concluded on the second week of december,” Director-General of Administration and Finance of the MoEYS, Antoninho Pires told TATOLI, in Vila Verde, Dili, on thursday.
He stressed that verification is needed to know a certain number of the current volunteer teachers across all schools in Timor-Leste.
“The verification is needed as MoEYS monthly report indicates that the number of volunteers teachers changing every time. Therefore, we need to carry out this verification to get the exact number of our volunteer teachers in Timor-Leste. As we know that the data of the volunteer teachers are important for MoEYS to take a further decision,” Pires added.
He said that MoEYS had already registered more than 2.040 volunteer teachers in the 12 municipalities and the Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA).
In Timor-Leste, many volunteer teachers have been teaching since 2013, without being registered in the system.
So far, MoEYS had registered a total of 10.523 permanent teachers and 5.203 contract teachers across the country.
