COVALIMA, 22 february 22 (TATOLI)- Timor-Gap is conducting data assessment on affected areas caused by the LNG Beaço Project.

Timor-Gap organized a Task force LNG Beaço team to carry out a comparative visit site in Covalima municipality. It aims to have data assessment for the land and propensity in the areas that are affected by the LNG Beaço Project.

“Today we are involving some of the community as the representative from LNG Beaço to carry out a visit site in covalima municipality. They are able to directly observe the houses and other properties that are required to be removed. It is to identify new types of houses to be constructed for the community and also for some graves that were affected by the LNG Tasi Mane Project,” The Director, Francisco Ferreira told reports at Vida Nova Hotel, Bairro-Costa today.

The representative of Beaço Community directly met the affected community and closely observed the development progress linking to the data assessment as highway, Suai airport, and supply base to sharing information to the community.

The chief of the village Maluro Beaço, Francisco Amaral informed that the team composed of community members are guiding on visiting Covalima. It is preferred especially to identify the affected community caused by LGN Beaço in Viqueque municipality.

“We observed that the government has provided a place of dignity for the community affected by the LGN project in Covalima”.

This visit activity is made based on the resulting dialogue, which made a concordance between government and community Beaço. It was proved by signature on an agreement letter. Thus, the affected community will be able to withdraw the proposal that has been sent to the government.

Timor-Gap LGN Task force team is carrying out a visit to new graves in Labarai, Holbelis area, International Airport Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão and oil drilling wells in Liu-Rai sub-district.

Timor-Gap is a National Petroleum Company established in 2011. The establishment   is based on the decree law number 21/2012. Timor-Gap represented the Timor-Leste government in conducting various negotiations on oil and gas. The negotiation activities are covered in onshore and offshore on National and International sectors.
