MSA provides 100 vehicles to facilitate voters who will vote in municipalities

DILI, 13 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The second round of Presidential election has been dated to 19th of april 2022 according to the law. Therefore, to facilitate the electors who wish to exercise their civics’ right to vote in each municipality, the Government through the Ministry of State Administration (MSA) will provide 100 vehicles to carry them.

The Minister of MSA, Miguel Pereira Carvalho, informed that, MSA in collaboration with the Technical Secretariat of Election Administration (STAE) and the National Election Commission (CNE) has made preparations to provide 100 units of vehicles to carry the electors whose electoral cards are in the municipalities.

“We wish to increase the participation in the second round of presidential elections maximally.  therefore, MSA together with the Electoral Management Body (EMB), have made contact with several entrepreneurs to provide buses and trucks with total 100 unit vehicles to facilitate the voters in increasing the participation on the second round of Presidential ‘s elections, which will take place on april 19, 2022,” the executive told reporters at the STAE’s office, Caicoli-Dili, on this wednesday.

Those vehicles, according to the official, will be provided in three places, namely, the eastern sector, central and west sectors. The eastern sector is providing to electors from municipalities comprising Manatuto, Baucau, Viqueque and there will be taking place at the Mercado Lama.

The central sector made up of municipalities such as Aileu, Manufahi, Ainaro and Covalima will be taking place in front of High Court ‘s office in Caicoli and then the electors who are coming from Ermera, Liquiça and Bobonaro – the sector west, will wait for the vehicle at the Tasi-Tolu terminal.

The MSA together with EMBs appealed to electors to come on 18th of april at 08:00 in morning in order the drivers can carry the electors early to each municipality across the Timor–Leste.

It’s recalled that in the first round of presidential elections, most voters did not participate in presidential elections. Previously, voters really expected the Parallel Voting Center but it was not effective because their names were not registered in the National STAE ‘s database. More than 8,000 students who did not vote at that time. Therefore, MSA hopes that by providing 100 vehicles it can increase the elector ‘s participation in the second round of the Presidential election.

The candidates of President of the Republic for the period 2022-2027, on the second round on 19 of april 2022 composed of the José Ramos Horta – as an independent and was supported and promoted by the CNRT party headed by Xanana Gusmão, as one of the biggest party in the country and Francisco Guterres ‘Lú Olo’ – one of the principal figure in the Fretilin party – one of the biggest party too that currently take part on the 8th Constitucional Government lead by Taur Matan Ruak as a Prime-Minister.
