The New Zealand govt provides didactic materials to 504 preschools

DILI, 26 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The Government of New Zealand, through its program called Halimar, Aprende, Deskobre, no Susesu (HANDS), provided didactic materials to 504 preschools in the country to foster effective early learning.

The Secretary of the New Zealand Embassy in Timor-Leste, Nick Borthwick highlighted that early childhood learning was important for children’s academic success.

“These teaching materials are intended to facilitate 28.857 students from 540 preschools,” said Nick Borthwick, at the ceremony of the handover of the school materials to the MEJD, in Vila Verde, Dili.

According to Borthwick, New Zealand has allocated around US$240.000 to finance the HANDS Program over the next five years.

The Director-General of Policy Planning, and Inclusion of MEJD, Raimundo José Neto, expressed his appreciation to the New Zealand Government for the support.

“I call on the principals of the 540 preschools to use these didactic materials efficiently to improve the teaching and learning process,” he concluded.
