DILI, 15 january 2022 (TATOLI)- Timor-Leste potential and skillful woman also as a Coordinator of Feto Harii Unidade (FHU) in Timor-Leste, Ursula Alves Freitas has transformed local food products into healthy modern food.
Ursula Alveis Freitas during an interview with Tatoli said she was able to do small business by selling all the local original products that produced by herself after attending the training in the two countries.
” I gained more knowledge to transform local products that valuable in the markets, after attending training in two countries in last 2012,” said Freitas.
Freitas said the local foods that she produces are cookies, donuts, cake, ginger candy, ginger milk, chocolate, and others, these foods are produced with local food such as corn, cassava, ginger, pumpkin, and others.
At the same time, Freitas also produced traditional medicine with coconut virgin oil.
“We coordinate with the Minister of Tourism, Commerce, and Industry to procure 50 bottles of our products every month, so this product is available in some supermarkets in Dili, and Baucau,” she said
According to Freitas, with the start of her business, the can answer to her family’s needs and also contributes to the country’s economic diversification.
“This business helps my family economy and also the families of my other 40 members that help me doing this work. It is a small contribution to the rural economy,”
So far, Freitas said, her business started in 2018, and in the first year of her business, she collected over 3,600 USD.
