DILI, 26 january 2023 ( TATOLI)- The Government of Timor – Leste through the Secretariat of State for Vocational Training and Employment ( SEFOPE) will send another 9,500 to work in Australia and South Korea this year.
In a statement published by SEFOPE, Director of Directorate National of Employment Exterior ( DNEE) Filomeno Soares said To reduce the unemploeyement rate in Timor-Leste, 9.500 workers will be sent to Australia and South Korea based on the company’s s request.
“We will send 8,000 Timorese workers to Australia and 1,500 workers to South Korea so the total is 9,500,” said Soares.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of State of SEFOPE Alarico has said that at the moment Australia and South Korea need more Timorese because Timorese workers had shown good performance in doing the work.
” The companies in Australia and South Korea through its Government, requested Timor – Leste to send more Timorese workers to work in both countries and SEFOPE welcomed the requests from both countries,” he said
So far over 60,000 job seekers which register in the database of SEFOPE thus the Government through SEFOPE was seeking a way to facilitate them including sending them to Australia, South Korea, and other countries such as Jepang, Canada, and Germany in the future.
