DILI, 13 february 2023 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, met with BRAC International to discuss future investments.
“We are a team from BRAC International.” BRAC is an international organization based in Bangladesh that has been working in development for 50 years. Internationally, we have taken much of our learning and experiences to many countries in Asia and Africa,” BRAC’s Executive Director Shameran Abed told reporters at the Presidential Palace, in Dili, today.
Abed said the team’s visit is important to see what BRAC can support government activities in the future.
“We are very honored to be invited by His Excellency President Horta to come to Timor-Leste to see some of the things we can do to support the government in its priority programs,” he explained.
During the meeting, President Horta also briefed the team on some of the key priorities that BRAC may invest in in the future.
“President Horta briefed us on several important priorities that our companies have been working on for years, including human development, education, health, child malnutrition, maternal mortality, and better quality of education at primary and higher levels,” Abed said.
