NZ supports Timor-Leste’s technical assistance to develop coffee commodity and market research

DILI, 24 february 2023 (TATOLI)— The government of New Zealand through the Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA) program supported Timor-Leste by providing technical assistance in developing coffee commodity market research.

According to a statement released by Trade Invest said Timor-Leste’s Investment and Export Promotion Agency, continues to receive technical assistance from the New Zealand Government through the VSA program in Timor-Leste.

“The VSA program has provided a volunteer expert, David Dyer, to work with TradeInvest Timor-Leste to provide support to the Directorate of Export Promotion to develop market research for coffee commodities in Timor-Leste,” wrote a press release accessed by Tatoli.

During his two-week assignment in Timor-Leste, David Dyer also visited Timor Global as a coffee exporter in Railaco District, Municipality of Ermera.

TradeInvest representative Duilio Marino Gusmão was accompanied on the visit to facilitate and complete market research.

“The two (2) week assignment ended on Thursday (23/02/2023) and David will return to New Zealand,” the statement said.

The Executive Director of TradeInvest, Arcanjo da Silva, would like to thank the New Zealand Government through the VSA program for continuing to provide technical assistance to TradeInvest Timor-Leste.

VSA is a New Zealand-based voluntary organization working in international development.

VSA volunteers share skills with people in the wider Pacific. VSA’s work is diverse and driven by the development needs of domestic partners.

These partner organizations range from local and central government agencies to local or national NGOs, education and health agencies, as well as schools, colleges, and health clinics. VSA is a registered charity and is non-religious, non-political, and non-governmental.

VSA has 85-100 volunteers in the field at any one time. Since 1962 VSA has recruited around 4000 ordinary New Zealanders from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from business mentors and lawyers to IT advisors and ecotourism operators.
