DILI, 22 march 2023 ( TATOLI)– The President of the Republic ( PR) José Ramos Horta, today received a Credential from the new Malaysian Ambassador to Timor – Leste, Amarjit Sinh replacing his predecessor Ambassador Samira Akbar the previous Ambassador to Timor-Leste.
“Today the President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta received a Credential from the New Malaysia Ambassador Amirjit Sinh to continue his diplomatic mission in Timor – Leste,” Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC), Juliao da Silva told reporters at the Presidential Palace – Aitarak- Laran Dili.
da Silva explained that Timor – Leste and Malaysia have established bilateral cooperation since Timor – Leste acquire its independence. In addition, Malaysia also supported Timor – Leste, by sending several Peace Keeping forces through the United Nations mission in Timor – Leste.
During the submission of the Credentials, the Head of State, José Ramos Horta, asked Malaysia to continue cooperation with Timor-Leste in the education sector by sending Timorese students to study in Malaysia.
Horta also asked Malaysia to provide training to Timorese journalists and also support the private sector to contribute to the economic development of Timor – Leste.
“The President of the Republic also appreciates the support from the Government of Malaysia during Timor – Leste facing the Covid-19 Pandemic,” said Horta.
