Autaúru, May 10, 2023 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste Red Cross (TLRC) is coordinating with the local authorities of Ataúru municipality to supply clean water for over 700 communities in Beloi and Maquili villages of Ataúru municipality.
RCTL Secretary General, Luis Pedro, said the meeting between the Red Cross and Local Government was to discuss several implementation programs to help vulnerable communities, especially the clean water supply program.
“We are focusing on the clean water supply program, which we implemented last year 2022. Therefore, we intend to complete the project and submit it to the Ataúru authorities by June this year, 2023 to have further water management,”
Clean water installation projects have been implemented in two villages such as Beloi and Biquili, and four regions consist of Adara, Arlo, Ileana, and Maker areas, covering more than 43 kilometers of water pipeline installations.
Luis said CVTL has plans to coordinate with communities to make small contributions to the distribution of water pipeline installations.
“We will coordinate with all communities to make small contributions of $0.50 per month each, for water conservancy or to repair broken pipes,” he explained
The local authority of Beloi Village, Adão Da Costa Nunes said Beloi Authority is committed to supporting the National Red Cross to implement all programs, especially for clean water installation projects that benefit more than a hundred people of Ataúru.
At the same time he said, Atauro will support RCTL to establish their office in Atauro as well.
“We will also support RCTL for the establishment of its office in the municipality of Ataúru. We are very pleased to have RCTL in Atauro to ensure effective emergency support to communities in Atauro,” he said.
He ensured that there would be 500 volunteer members to fill in the criteria, for the establishment of an RCTL office in the municipality of Ataúru.
So far the water installation project has been funded by the New Zealand Embassy worth more than US $ 50 thousand.
