CRS provides training and business development for Timorese farmers in five municipalities

DILI, 05 July 2023 (TATOLI)– Catholic Relief Service (CRS) is providing technical assistance to assist local Agriculture to promote markets and business development in five municipalities; Ermera, Aileu, Maliana, Baucau, Manatuto, and Dili.

CRS Country Manager, Yane Tamonob Pinto said CRS support includes training and business development. The training provided includes finance, quick books, marketing, promotions, websites, and packaging.

“We also support websites to connect agricultural products to international markets. We have supported ACELDA to promote and develop local products. Also to connect with national and international markets in Boston America,” said CRS Country Manager, Yane Tamonob Pinto to TATOLI Agency, at the Tjing Fa Ho Aimetilaran warehouse, Thursday.

According to Yane, the CRS volunteer team also communicated and promoted Timor-Leste local products to international companies.

In addition, CRS provides horticultural products to farmers in Aileu while helping them supply products to the central supermarket.

Meanwhile, in Natarbora, CRS also provides a horticulture curriculum to support horticulture higher education.

Currently, CRS also supports ACELDA in the process of making hazelnut oil which is now being supplied to the international market.

The market and business development program is funded by the United States For Development Agency (USAID) with a total budget worth USD 1.2 million from 2019 to 2023.
