DILI, 28 august 2023 ( TATOLI)-The Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) decided to renew the mandate for the current Executive Secretary of the CPLP, Zacarias Albano da Costa, for a period of two years, 2023-2025.
“It also approved the recommendation for my two-year reappointment as Executive Secretary of the CPLP; the formal election will take place at the next (conference) of Heads of State and Government,” said Executive Secretary of the CPLP, Zacarias Albano da Costa, in a press release from the Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste which was accessed by TATOLI on monday
The current Executive Secretary of the CPLP informed that his formalization for the second term will take place at the next conference of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP on August 27, 2023.
Meanwhile, Zacarias Albano da Costa assumed the position of Executive Secretary of the CPLP in july 2021, at the summit held in Angola.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Benedito dos Santos Freitas, accompanied by the Head of the Permanent Mission of Timor-Leste to the CPLP, Ambassador Marina Ribeiro Alkatiri, and the National Director of the CPLP, Aviano Faria, also participated in the XXVIII Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries.
Previously Zacarias da Costa took up the post of Executive Secretary of the CPLP in july 2021 which is decided by CPLP summit in Angola form 2021-2023. And Zacarias da Costa re-appointed for the second period as the Executive Secretary of CPLP from 2023 to 2025 during two years.
