DILI, 20 january 2024 (TATOLI) – The Minister of Justice, Amândio de Sá Benevides, 59, passed away from heart attack.
Minister Benevides was pronounced dead at the Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV), on saturday (20/01) at 1.55 pm local time.
According to the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Justice, Albertina Santa, Benevides suffered a cardiac arrest at Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport. He was rushed to the to the HNGV: “But he took his last breath on the way to HNGB,” explained Eldegar Lopes, the Head of Emergency Department oh HNGV
Rui Fátima Martins, representing the bereaved family, revealed that Amândio de Sá Benevides had been suffering from a heart problem for several years.
“He suffered from high blood pressure, but always had a regular medical check-up to make sure everything was under control,” said Martins.
Martins added that, despite being overworked, Minister Benevides always tried to balance his concentration on work and health.
Amândio de Sá Benevides was born in Ainaro on july 16, 1964. He has four children, three boys and a girl.
