DILI, 28 April 2025 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, through the Civil Society and Social Affairs unit of the Presidency led by Advisor Quintiliano Moniz, recently distributed basic needs and sports materials to vulnerable residents of Dotik Village in Same, Manufahi Municipality.
The initiative also included the inauguration of a new house with an attached kiosk for a vulnerable family, designed to provide sustainable income opportunities for their future.
“We hope in the future please keep taking care of the vulnerable people like us,” expressed Adelino da Costa Amaral, Chief of Dotik Village, who conveyed profound gratitude to President Ramos-Horta for the support coordinated with the Civil Protection Authority and other participating organizations. The beneficiary family also shared their appreciation, noting how the assistance has significantly transformed the beneficiaries quality of life.
During the ceremony, Advisor Quintiliano Moniz emphasized that the support came directly from President Ramos-Horta to bring hope to the most vulnerable community members who had requested assistance through local authorities. The initiative was partially supported by materials from the Nippon Foundation, described as “the President’s friends.” The house, constructed with approximately US$$13,000 from the Presidency’s budget, was originally scheduled for handover by President Ramos-Horta himself, who was unable to attend due to ongoing official visits abroad.
Advisor Quintiliano Moniz also pledged to discuss with President Ramos-Horta regarding further guarantees for the education of the beneficiary family’s children, demonstrating the Presidency’s continued commitment to comprehensive support for vulnerable communities throughout Timor-Leste.
