DILI, 16 July 2025 (TATOLI) – The African delegation scheduled to participate in the 12th edition of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) Sports Games has postponed its flight to Dili, Timor-Leste, citing operational and immigration constraints.

In a press statement, Angola’s Ministry of Youth and Sports explained that the planned flight to Bali, Indonesia—where the delegation was expected to transit en route to Timor-Leste—could not be completed.

As a result, the delegation has returned to Luanda, where travel arrangements are being reorganized.

The Ministry said that, in coordination with national and international authorities, a new flight has been arranged for Friday, July 18. All necessary travel and support arrangements are now in place to ensure the delegation can continue its journey as planned.

The statement also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring a safe, organized, and dignified participation of the African delegation in the CPLP Sports Games, which will be held from July 17 to 27 in Dili.

According to Africa Press, the delegation comprising one hundred (100) members, including 52 athletes and 20 officers, is expected to arrive on Thursday.

The delegation will participate in athletics, adapted athletics, men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball, karate, tennis, taekwondo, chess, beach volleyball and football.
