DILI, april 26, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Chinese Youth Business Association of Timor-Leste(AEJCTL) supports essential goods to the victims of natural disasters at the administrative post in Laclo, Municipality of Manatuto.
The necessities were delivered by the Halibut Laclo-Anan team to the humanitarian post in the Taibessi neighborhood, in Haslaran village, Suco de Bemori, at the Nain Feto administrative post in Dili.
The representative of the AEJCTL, Rudi Kwan, said that many people have lost their homes, and some people were missing during the floods, thus the purpose of the supports is to help the victims of the flood’s disaster.
“We received the order from the Halibur Laclo-Anan post. We offer 200 bags of rice, 2 thousand clothes, 300 pairs of shoes, 200 pairs of slippers and other goods”, he said.
The Halibur Laclo-Anan Team Coordinator, António Cárceres de Carvalho, thanked the AEJCTL for their support provided to the affected families in the Manatuto Municipality.
“We appreciate the supports for our families. As Timorese, I am very grateful for the kind heard from the Chinese people” he said.
Samuel Rodrigues Pereira, the head from the Post Administrative of Laclo said the laclo Authority has recorded six people’s death while one remains missing during the flash flood.
“The floods destroyed5,000 hectares of rice fields, 200 hectares of vegetable gardens, 60 fish tanks, as well as other plantations and caused the death of several animals,” he said.
Following the data reports from the Ministry of The State and Administration until April 22, 2021, Authority recorded 21.676 families affected by the natural disasters across the territory with 41 deaths.
The Deputy Minister of the State and Administration, Lino de Jesus Torrezão via phone said, 7,242 families are still housed in 31 evacuation centers, due to the destruction of their homes.
In addition to that, there are 41 public infrastructures with 23 bridges and roads were destroyed in the capital, meanwhile, the Government is continued to gather some more data from the private sector regarding the infrastructures that having been destroyed during the floods.
Of the total affected victims, more than 5.320 victims in Dili have received emergency supports from the government and development partners.
